How To Recognize a Claim
A claim may be one of the following:

A verbal or written demand that fees be waived or reduced because of a quality
of care issue or a treatment outcome.

Notification from another health care provider that a patient under your care
is suing them.

Request for medical records by an attorney on behalf of a patient, or a call
or visit from an attorney who is "just looking for information."

A written or verbal complaint about the quality of care or a treatment outcome.

A written demand for compensation or a notice of intent to sue.

The formal service of a summons and complaint
