What does inpatient
mean?
The term inpatient is used to
describe a patient or services provided to a patient who is admitted to a
hospital to receive continuous care for an undetermined amount of
time. This may include care in a hospital nursing unit for pre- and
post-operative care, complex diagnostic testing and some treatments.
What does outpatient
mean?
The term outpatient is used to
describe a patient or services provided to a patient who receives short-term
care at a hospital or physician office for diagnosis or treatment
only. This may include care provided during clinic visits, same-day
surgery stays, observation stays, visits for infusion therapy, and visits for
diagnostic testing and some treatments.
Why would I need
information about charges?
Charge information contained on
this Web site can assist you in determining an estimate of your out-of-pocket
expense for services at Clarian. This information, in combination with the
information regarding quality at Clarian, can be used to help you make the best
decisions regarding your health care needs.
How are charges
determined for Clarian Health?
Most Clarian charges are
established based on cost of the service, supply or device, plus a standard
mark-up.
Are the estimated
charges representative of all Clarian facilities?
The estimated charges represent
charges for like services at all Clarian facilities.
Does the location
where I receive my care make a difference in price?
The Clarian location providing
your services does not make a difference in the pricing. Clarian operates
under one corporate price listing.
How long are the
prices on the Web site valid?
The estimated charges provided
are valid through Dec. 31, 2008, and may be subject to change from time to
time.
Does my age make a
difference in what I am expected to pay Clarian for health care
services?
Typically, age does not make a
difference in the price for services provided at Clarian. However, some
services provided to pediatric patients may require additional accommodations
that adults would not typically incur. (Example: The pediatric
patient having a minor surgical procedure or complex radiological procedure may
require conscious sedation or general anesthesia that an adult may not
require.)
Does my insurance
coverage make a difference in what I will be charged?
Clarian charges remain
consistent for all patient populations; therefore, insurance coverage does not
impact Clarian charges.
Are the estimated
charges the same for both adult and pediatric services at
Clarian?
The estimated charges are based
on historical data of actual accounts at Clarian and are an average of charges
for like services as provided across all Clarian facilities.
What is INCLUDED in
Clarian's estimated charge amounts?
Hospital-related charges such as
room charges, nursing care, supplies and medications used during your
outpatient visit or inpatient hospital stay.
What is NOT INCLUDED
in Clarian's estimated charge amounts?
Clarian charge estimates do not
include physicians' fees or other consultant fees that may be incurred during
the course of your care.
All physician fees for services
provided by your medical doctor, surgeon, anesthesiologist, pathologist and
radiologist are billed separately. Please contact those offices directly
for their charge information:

The charge amounts provided on
this Web site are estimates of hospital facility charges only and may vary
based on actual care provided.
Will charges on my
hospital bill be different than the estimated charges listed
here?
The estimated charges listed are
an approximate calculation of the total cost of services for a specific type of
visit or inpatient stay at our facilities and are not fixed price quotes. The
amount you owe may vary for a variety of reasons:
-
The need for
additional testing, medications, services or procedures ordered by your
physician(s)
-
The procedure planned
may be different from what is actually performed based on your physician's
assessment and course for your treatment
-
Pre-existing health
risks such as smoking, heart disease, diabetes and obesity may impact the
course of care
-
If you have insurance,
the type and specific coverage will impact your payment responsibility and will
determine your final Clarian bill
-
If you do not have
health insurance coverage, you may qualify for financial assistance. To
find out more about Clarian's Financial Assistance Program, please call
317-962-8661.
You should contact your
insurance company to get the most accurate information regarding your financial
