Improving Health Through Proven Quality
When it comes to health care, most people assume they are getting quality
care. The question for most consumers is... what does "quality"
mean?
Quality in health care can be defined by patient satisfaction scores, disease
management programs, technology, award recognitions and various services
offered.
In this section, we not only profess our quality, we actually prove it.
From patient survey results to disease management programs to nationally
recognized quality measures, the physicians and staff of Methodist Medical
Group have proven quality and will strive to continuously improve the care and
satisfaction of our patients.
Methodist Medical Group's mission is to enhance the total well-being of
our patients and the community we serve.
Our Patients Grade Us
Methodist Medical Group believes that satisfied patients form a bond with
their primary care physician. Working relationships between patients and
physicians improve communication regarding preventive care, family history,
symptoms, treatment options and other health-related questions.
In other words, Methodist Medical Group thinks patient satisfaction is a
prioritiy. Key findings from the most recent patient satisfaction
survey:
Overall satisfaction scores have achieved at least 95% for seven years in a
row.
98% of MMG
patients are willing to recommend their physician to others.
99% of MMG patients say their doctor listen
carefully to them and show respect for what they had to say.
99% of MMG patients say their doctor explains
things in a way they can understand.
99% of
MMG patients say their doctor is friendly and caring
99% of MMG patients say the office staff treats them with courtesy and

Proof of Our Quality Care
After Hours Triage
Since patients don't necessarily get sick between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the
Methodist Medical Group After Hours Triage program was developed to better
manage patients' health concerns after normal business hours. It often saves a
call or trip to the doctor.
- Staffed with experienced RNs and LPNs
- Uses nationally recognized protocols to determine care
- On-call physician back-up is always available
- Summary of call and treatment advice is faxed to the doctor's office next business day
Case Management
Case management involves managing chronically ill patients, linking them with
the necessary programs and services to help the patient get needed care. They
also assist with appropriate home care and needed supplies.
Disease Management
Disease Management is a proactive, organized approach to chronic illness
that is physician-directed and carried out by Methodist Medical Group
pharmacists, Certified Diabetes Educators, respiratory therapists and other
experienced providers. The Disease Management staff counsel patients on
lifestyle changes, schedule follow-up visits and provide physicians with
progress reports.
Methodist Medical Group has several unique disease management programs,
including:
*Anticoagulation
*Asthma
*Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
*Diabetes
*Hypertension
*Lipid/Cholesterol
National Recognition for Quality Diabetes Care
Methodist Medical Group was recognized fall of 2007 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) Diabetes Physician Recognition Program for providing quality care to patients with diabetes.
To receive this recognition, which is valid for three years, Methodist Medical Group submitted data that demonstrates performance in key measurement areas. These measures include eye exams, blood pressure tests, nutrition therapy and patient satisfaction, among others.
The Diabetes Recognition Program was designed to improve the quality of care that patients with diabetes receive by recognizing those physicians that deliver top of the line care. When patients with diabetes receive quality care, they are less likely to suffer from complications such as, heart attcks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.

investment for our future.
Patient to physician communication - Patients can save valuable time by emailing a message to the physician's office to request an appointment, prescription refill or obtain test results.
HIPAA Compliance - Privacy standards and electronic translations standards (EDI) are in place.
Integration of clinical data - To create an enterprise-wide clinical repository of data and development of an electronic medical record.
Implementation of wireless devices - To allow physicians and clinicians access to data at the point of care.
