![]() ![]() How to Donate
A mother's own milk is always the first choice for sick and premature
infants because it is custom-designed for their baby. However, if you are
nursing a young infant, you may be able to give another child a chance to
thrive by donating human milk to the Indiana Mothers' Milk Bank. Women with infants younger than 12 months are ideal candidates because their
milk is higher in calories and protein than mothers of nursing toddlers. If you
are in good general health, have a surplus of human milk and are willing to
donate a minimum of 100 ounces, we need your help!
Step One: Prescreening
The first step to becoming a donor is to view the prescreening criteria, or
Donor Selection Criteria.
View a complete list of donor
selection criteria.
Step Two: Interested Donor Form
After reviewing the selection criteria, if you are still interested in
continuing in the donor screening process, please
fill out a Potential Donor Form that will be sent to a member of the milk
bank staff. ****NOTE: These criteria do not automatically exclude you from becoming a
donor to the Indiana Mothers' Milk Bank. If for any reason you do not meet the
Donor Selection Criteria (i.e. taking certain medications, traveled to Africa,
etc.) please note this in the comments section of the form. A member of the
milk bank staff will contact you to answer your questions. If you are unable to donate milk, you still can give to the Indiana Mothers'
Milk Bank in other ways. Please click the links below to learn more about these
needs and how you can help. Content Modified on: 05/27/2009 13:32:31 |
