The Clarian People Mover quickly transports patients, families, physicians, employees and the public among Methodist, Indiana University and Riley hospitals, as well as the Clarian Pathology Laboratory and Fairbanks Hall. Each ride lasts about five minutes, and is free and open to the public. This elevated, driverless rail system powered by electricity was built to increase efficiency and effectiveness of Clarian's employees and to give Indiana University School of Medicine students easy access to Clarian's downtown Indianapolis health care facilities. The People Mover enhances the ability of patients and their families to access Clarian's downtown health care resources.
The People Mover is available 24 hours/day and runs on a 1.4-mile track that heads south from Methodist Hospital along Senate Ave., west on 11th St. to University Blvd., west on Walnut St. to Indiana University Hospital and west to Riley Hospital for Children. The Canal Station is located at the halfway point, and is the stop for the pathology lab and Fairbanks Hall. The People Mover can be accessed near Garage 1, just south of the main lobby of Methodist Hospital.
