Volunteer Opportunities

From assisting chaplaincy services to providing essential support to the emergency department or simply providing a warm welcome to all who walk through the doors, volunteers are an integral thread in assisting Clarian North achieve our mission to provide exceptional care. It is not necessary for you to have worked in a hospital or volunteered in a health care setting before. You need only a passion to serve others, and a commitment to helping Clarian North make each and every guest visit exceptional.

Most commitments are only a mere three hours weekly, but the benefits and rewards are immeasurable. If you will gladly give of your time in return for that single, amazing moment in time when you realize you've made a huge difference in the life of someone you've just met, we welcome you to give us a call and explore volunteer service at Clarian North.

Our Culture of Service

As an integral part of Clarian North Medical Center, all Clarian North volunteers must be aware of our culture of service and our passionate commitment to exceeding the expectations of those we serve. Participating in the care of others requires a special commitment to provide impeccable service and create an experience for our guests that they will not forget.

Our Volunteers

Traditional Volunteer: Anyone over 18 years of age and not in school is considered to be a traditional volunteer.

Student Volunteers: High school and college students are student volunteers at Clarian North Medical Center. Volunteer opportunities for high school students are offered only on a year round basis and are filled as positions for high school students become available. College students are eligible for any volunteer position a traditional volunteer may fill. All student volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and in high school.

At this time we are no longer accepting application from high school and/or college students wishing to volunteer over summer break. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Clarian North.

Special Event Volunteers: Special event volunteers give of their time and/or talent less than once every four months. If you have a special talent and would like to share it with others, let us work with you to customize a special volunteer experience for you.

Associate Volunteers: Full-time, part-time and supplemental associates and employees of Clarian North are crucial to assisting Clarian North in providing exceptional care. If you have an interest in volunteering for Clarian North outside of your normal work hours, please contact us for more information.

Service Project Volunteers: If your group, organization or business is searching for a unique volunteer opportunity, volunteer services at Clarian North Medical Center may be able to assist you. If available, programs and services will be customized to meet the specific needs of the group.

Your Committment

Most volunteer positions at Clarian North Medical Center require a six month committment (minus family vacations, illness or other special situations), unless otherwise noted. We schedule volunteers into the same day/time each week to allow you to get to know your service area, and your service area to know you. During the normal academic year, students are asked to volunteer weekly for the duration of the semester.

The Application Process

  1. Review current volunteer opportunities.
  2. If you find a volunteer opportunity that matches your interest, call or email the coordinator at 317-688-2927 to set up a time to learn more about the volunteer program, process and what your expectations are (informal interview).
  3. Any individual selected to volunteer at Clarian North Medical Center must first complete the online application as well as successfully pass a background check, complete a health assessment which includes a drug screen, and attend an orientation. Ability to volunteer is contingent upon the successful completion of all components of the volunteer application process.

At Clarian North Medical Center it is important to us that we match volunteers with the right opportunity. Throughout the application process we try to learn as much about you as possible to ensure that volunteer positions we have will match your needs and desires.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available between the hours of 6 and 12 a.m. seven days a week. Whether you are interested in assisting patients, visitors and guests, or would like to remain behind the scenes as administrative or professional support we will do everything we can to help find a volunteer opportunity that is right for you.
