Clarian North Plans Activities in Recognition of Quality Health care

10/05/2009

CARMEL, Ind.—From October 6–10, Clarian North Medical Center is proudly hosting “All Aboard the Quality Excellence Express (QE2): On the Road to Preeminence," a program intended to celebrate and recognize the importance of quality in health care. The week includes numerous activities designed to educate associates and community members about quality health care and its effect on the patient experience.

The level to which a patient is satisfied with services received at a hospital is an excellent indication of the quality of care provided at the facility. According to NRC Picker, a national healthcare quality measurement organization, Clarian North had 13 units score in the Top 10 percent (90th percentile) for patient satisfaction in the second quarter of 2009. Still, it is important to continually improve by reviewing processes and seeking feedback.

Throughout QE2, a series of speakers, including physicians and medical professionals from Clarian and elsewhere, will lead presentations and discussions on a variety of aspects related to quality in health care. Topics include communication, best practices, disease prevention, and patient and disaster preparedness. In addition, displays from various hospital service lines, committees and individuals will be showcased in the Clarian North Atrium to highlight what each has done to positively affect the patient experience.

On Saturday, October 10th, the public is invited to join Ann Sawyer, RN, MSN, to learn about preparing for hospitalization. Ann will share key information regarding what to bring, what to leave at home, advanced directives, registration, medication lists, and other frequently asked questions regarding hospitalization.  Presentations will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

For more information or to receive a full schedule of the week’s activities, please contact Joy Davis (jdavis27@clariannorth.com) or Andy Pollen (apollen@clariannorth.com).
