Visitor Restrictions in Response to 2009 H1N1

10/20/09

INDIANAPOLIS - Clarian Health's downtown Indianapolis facilities - Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital (including IU Simon Cancer Center) and Riley Hospital for Children - are now restricting patient visitors due to increasing cases of 2009 H1N1 flu in the community.

This means only two essential adult visitors per patient are allowed. This temporary restriction is needed to protect the health of our patients and staff and is part of a county-wide hospital visitor restriction policy established by the Marion County Health Department.

In addition to the visitor restriction for hospitalized patients, we also are asking families to limit the number of relatives and friends accompanying patients to the Emergency Department, outpatient surgery waiting rooms and procedure areas, and primary care and specialist offices. The Riley Hospital Emergency Department entrance is restricted to use by emergency department patients and those accompanying them ONLY. All staff and essential visitors must use the hospital's main entrance.

Clarian North Medical Center has lifted their visitation restrictions.

This temporary policy supports Clarian's commitment to the safety of our patients, their families and staff. We will continue to make available the most current information regarding visitor restrictions on this page. For more information about a patient in the hospital, call 317-962-2000.
