Overview
The Student Nurse Extern program at
Clarian offers a unique opportunity to build an excellent clinical
skill set in a real-world work environment. Both supplemental and
part-time opportunities are available with flexible scheduling
determined by the student's school schedule and unit needs.
There are two levels of Student
Nurse Externs (SNEs):
Level One:
Level One SNEs are able to perform
treatments and procedures directly related to patient care. To become
a Level One SNE, student nurses must complete a minimum of one semester
of nursing clinicals in an RN program that includes patient care.
Level Two
Level Two SNEs are able to administer
medications under the direct supervision of an RN. To become a Level
Two SNE (SNEM), student nurses must complete all Level One requirements,
2 semesters of nursing clinicals, and pass dosage calculation and
medication tests.
