In this position, you would:
- Provide clinical
data for quality assessments
- Code all medical
procedures to ensure accurate billing and correct reimbursement
To become a medical coder, you
need to have:
- Knowledge of
medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and
therapeutic tests and procedures, surgical operations and procedures
related to the organization and processing of medical records
- Ability to
differentiate multiple chronic and acute diseases and prioritize these
diseases relative to reason for admission and the procedure
- Ability to negotiate
and communicate effectively with physicians
