Medical Coder

 

In this position, you would:

    • Provide clinical data for quality assessments
  • Code all medical procedures to ensure accurate billing and correct reimbursement

To become a medical coder, you need to have:

    • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, surgical operations and procedures related to the organization and processing of medical records
  • Ability to differentiate multiple chronic and acute diseases and prioritize these diseases relative to reason for admission and the procedure
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with physicians
